The Health Quality Council of Alberta (HQCA) and Alberta Health Services (AHS) have started contributing information to Global Patient Safety Alerts, a publicly available, web-based platform developed by the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI).

Announced during Canadian Patient Safety Week in Edmonton on October 30, 2014, the news means that both the HQCA and AHS will be part of a global repository for learning from potential for patient harm, inevitably helping to prevent and mitigate patient safety incidents. This is the first time two major Canadian healthcare organizations from one province will participate in the program.
