Healthcare providers and Albertans gathering around the province of Alberta | Medication reconciliation

Current Public Engagement

The HQCA frequently surveys Albertans about their experience and satisfaction with patient safety and health service quality in a variety of healthcare settings.

We take great care and pride with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of the information. We are provincial custodians of health information under Alberta’s Health Information Act.

Currently, members of our team or contractors are surveying Albertans in the following areas. For more information please email info@hqca.ca.

Emergency Department Patient Experience Survey

The HQCA is randomly sampling patients who have recently visited Alberta’s busiest urban and regional emergency departments. This brief telephone survey asks patients about their experiences with care during their visit to the emergency department. Results are reported online by the HQCA, and are updated quarterly. If you have been contacted to participate in the survey, you can learn more in the Emergency Department Patient Experience Survey – Participant FAQ

Adding Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) to our emergency department experience survey
Some patients who participate in the HQCA’s emergency department experience survey may be contacted by the HQCA to participate in an additional study that is testing a new questionnaire about emergency department outcomes. Click here for information about this study.

Primary Care Patient Experience Survey

Were you sent an email and asked to participate in a survey about your experiences with your family doctor? This may have been the HQCA’s Primary Care Patient Experience Survey. It is a confidential survey and should only take about 15 minutes to complete. The survey provides meaningful information to the HQCA that we can then report back to healthcare providers and Albertans. Results from the survey are available on the HQCA’s FOCUS on Heathcare website.
